Health 1 st, MUSC’s Employee Wellness Program, was established in 2006 to promote the health and well-being of all MUSC employees. This presentation will talk about the ongoing development and implementation of this wellness program. The program is fortunate that many of the 8,000 to 10,000 MUSC employees and 4,600 students are health care providers and specialists who are willing presenters at Health1st classes and screenings. One of the challenges the program has had is marketing its existence and getting employee involvement in certain (but not all) events. SCOSC participants will be asked to discuss solutions they have found for similar challenges in their wellness programs.

Recognizing that safety improvement and injury reduction could not be achieved by merely focusing on improving management systems, this approach focuses attention on the importance of influencing the way colleagues behave in the workplace to enhance their engagement. This tool not only measures the level of colleague engagement, but also assists in the development of an improvement plan. In this session, you will learn about the operation of this tool and the benefits Pfizer has derived from the use of this measurement process.
